The Role

As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will shape and build an innovative user experience for the future of decentralised finance. You will automate and abstract away the complexities of on-chain swaps and liquidity management to provide a seamless trading experience for end users and to drive business growth in DeFi. This is a stealth-mode initiative supported by a well-funded company, offering a fast-paced environment with the resources to push the boundaries of technology. Your work will contribute to a product with a meaningful impact on DeFi, underpinned by the organisation’s financial strength and strategic direction.

  • Build, test, and support full-stack applications using blockchain technology.
  • Prioritize the customer experience by solving UI/UX challenges for both crypto-curious and crypto-native users.
  • Stay up to date with trends and technologies in DeFi, blockchain, and backend development to continuously improve the product.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to ensure seamless interaction between frontend, APIs, and blockchain nodes for real-time data display.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and workflows.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, share best practices, and mentor junior team members.
  • Follow security best practices, particularly concerning user data and blockchain interactions.
  • Collaborate with design, marketing, and product teams to deliver new features according to the product roadmap.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Conduct regular testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to enhance performance and usability.
Knowledge & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Expert in TypeScript with experience in Go or a strong desire to learn.
  • Deep familiarity with React (including React Router) for building SPAs, SSR, or other rendering strategies.
  • Prior experience designing and developing trading platforms, especially AMM-style DEXes.
  • Experience developing complex microservice-based distributed systems.
  • Experience architecting and implementing mobile-first, responsive, real-time front-ends (WebSockets, SSE, GraphQL subscriptions, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of gRPC and GraphQL (queries, mutations, subscriptions).
  • Experience with Git in production settings.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or equivalents) for packaging and running microservices.
  • Experience styling frontends with HTML, CSS, and frameworks like Tailwind, preferably following a style guide.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • A creative problem-solver eager to innovate in DeFi.
  • Deep understanding of web technologies and blockchain fundamentals, especially in DeFi.
  • Thrives in scrappy startup environments and embraces ambiguity.
  • Owns complex problems and translates them into user-friendly solutions.
  • Collaborative, able to build trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality products under pressure.
  • Understands speed and agility as competitive advantages without compromising quality.
  • Passionate about DeFi with a commitment to continuous learning.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience developing Solana smart contracts with Anchor.
  • Experience developing EVM smart contracts using Solidity with Foundry or Hardhat.

Blockchain Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

As we move into 2026, the blockchain jobs market in the UK is at an interesting crossroads. The speculative crypto boom years have cooled, some Web3 companies have downsized or disappeared, & yet demand for serious blockchain talent remains strong – especially where real-world utility, regulation & enterprise adoption meet. Tokenisation of real-world assets, regulated digital securities, central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilots, on-chain compliance tools & enterprise blockchain platforms are all moving from experiment to implementation. At the same time, hiring is more selective, funding is more cautious, & the bar for blockchain roles has risen. Whether you are a blockchain job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter trying to build credible Web3 or enterprise blockchain teams, understanding the key blockchain hiring trends for 2026 will help you stay ahead.

Why Blockchain Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Blockchain was once a niche technology, associated mostly with Bitcoin & cryptocurrency trading. In the UK today, it’s become a mainstream enabler of decentralised finance, supply chain traceability, identity management, health data sharing & even cultural products like NFTs. As blockchain matures, careers in the sector are expanding beyond developers & cryptographers. A blockchain project doesn’t just need people who can write smart contracts or design consensus mechanisms. It needs lawyers who understand regulation, ethicists who anticipate harm, psychologists who study user behaviour, linguists who simplify complex communication, and designers who build usable, trustworthy interfaces. In this article, we’ll explore why UK blockchain careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design shape the sector, and what job-seekers & employers must do to thrive.
