Job Title: OHL Planner
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £85,000 (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Permanent / Full-time
About the Role: We are currently seeking an experienced OHL Planner to join a leading infrastructure and utilities contractor based in Hertfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the planning and delivery of overhead line (OHL) projects across the region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OHL planning, excellent knowledge of project scheduling tools, and experience working on transmission or distribution networks.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project programmes and schedules for OHL works.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure delivery milestones are met.
Produce baseline programmes, look-aheads, and progress updates in line with project requirements.
Support the commercial team with planning input to valuations, change control, and claims.
Identify potential risks or delays and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with clients, DNOs, and stakeholders to align project timelines and deliverables.
Ensure planning complies with all HSE and regulatory requirements.Requirements:
Proven experience as a Planner within the OHL / transmission / power distribution sector.
Proficient in planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
In-depth knowledge of National Grid or DNO OHL project requirements and standards.
Strong understanding of the construction and commissioning phases of overhead line infrastructure.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and project documentation.
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Relevant qualifications in engineering, construction management, or similar field.Desirable:
Experience working under frameworks such as RIIO-2, or for National Grid or UKPN.
Knowledge of NEC contracts and earned value management (EVM) principles.
CSCS card or similar H&S certification.What’s on Offer:
