Rate: £600 per day

Role Overview

A Senior Cryptography Consultant is responsible for designing and delivering enterprise-grade cryptographic solutions, ensuring secure protection of sensitive data across the organisation. They lead the development of high-level security architectures, including Hardware Security Module (HSM)-based solutions, ensuring risks are effectively managed and controls are Embedded by design.


The role combines deep technical expertise with governance and assurance responsibilities, including architecture design, regulatory alignment, and security approvals. Working closely with enterprise architects, security, and engineering teams, they ensure cryptographic controls are robust, scalable, and aligned with business and compliance requirements, while maintaining strong key management and encryption standards across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Security Architecture & High-Level Design
    Develop high-level designs (HLDs) for enterprise security and cryptographic architectures, ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Cryptographic Solution Design & Implementation
    Design and implement robust cryptographic solutions, including encryption, key management, and secure data protection mechanisms.
  • HSM Architecture & Key Management
    Lead the design and integration of Hardware Security Module (HSM)-based architectures, ensuring secure key life cycle management and protection of sensitive assets.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Alignment
    Ensure all solutions meet security governance standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Design Approval
    Work closely with enterprise architects, security teams, and stakeholders to review designs, obtain approvals, and ensure alignment with organisational standards.

What You Will Ideally Bring

  • Security Architecture & HLD Development
  • Strong experience in producing high-level design documentation and enterprise security architecture frameworks.
  • Cryptography & Encryption Expertise
  • Deep understanding of cryptographic principles, encryption standards (eg AES, RSA), and secure protocol design.
  • HSM & Key Management Expertise
  • Hands‑on experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and enterprise key management systems.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance Knowledge
  • Familiarity with security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and architecture review processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Leadership
  • Ability to lead design discussions, influence stakeholders, and navigate complex approval processes across technical and non-technical teams.
