Mentorship opportunities Contribution to technical hiring Knowledge sharing

Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and creating products that build trust in cryptocurrencies. We're a global organization who thrive on the challenging work we do and doing it with other exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry changes constantly, and our job is to create user-facing products supported by our best-in-class data, allowing us to adapt to those rapid changes and bring maximal value to our customers.

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Research and Intelligence organisation in London. You'll sit within one of our four research chapters, Account and Smart Contracts, embedded in a broader eleven-person team that develops the behavioural heuristics, graph algorithms, and machine learning techniques that power the most advanced blockchain analysis in the industry. Much of what we work on is state of the art, and often ahead of academia, and your work will directly shape the data that fuels Chainalysis' products and customers across the globe.

This role is ideal for someone who is energised by deeply technical, ambiguous problems at the intersection of data science, graph computation, and on-chain analysis, and who wants to take ownership of projects end-to-end.

In this role, you'll:

  • Own the execution of one or more production data science projects, translating broad problem statements into well-scoped tasks and credible analytical results that meet stakeholder expectations.

  • Design, develop, and validate novel behavioral heuristics and algorithms over EVM (and other) blockchain data to attribute on-chain activity and uncover new insights.

  • Apply advanced techniques including graph computation, statistical modeling, and machine learning to large-scale on-chain datasets.

  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies in code, methodology, and workflows; ensure your work integrates cleanly into our production data and tooling stack.

  • Clearly articulate and defend methodology and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, maintaining alignment through consistent communication.

  • Mentor junior team members, contribute to technical hiring, and share knowledge.

  • Collaborate closely with peers to bring research from prototype to production.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A PhD in computer science, machine learning, statistics, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field – or equivalent industry experience working on advanced, data-intensive problems.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL, with a track record of writing clean, testable, production-quality code.

  • Demonstrated experience applying advanced analytical techniques (e.g. graph algorithms, ML, statistical inference) to large, messy datasets.

  • Comfort working with EVM-based blockchain data, or strong evidence of the aptitude to ramp up quickly on EVM data structures and protocols.

  • A demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects: decomposing requirements, driving them to completion, and proactively seeking clarity from stakeholders.

  • An analytical, open-minded approach to problem solving – comfortable navigating ambiguity and willing to dive into problems outside your day-to-day scope.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex methodology to diverse audiences.

You might also have:

  • Familiarity with Databricks, DBT, Spark/PySpark, or similar large-scale data platforms.

  • Modified infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform) or contributing to production data pipelines.

  • Mentored junior data scientists or engineers.

  • Knowledge of, or passion for, the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.

Technologies we use:

  • Python

  • SQL

  • Databricks

  • DBT

  • PySpark / Spark

  • Terraform

  • AWS

  • Postgres

Where to Advertise Blockchain Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise blockchain jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, communities and channels that reach Web3, smart contract and protocol engineers. The candidate pool is global in outlook but concentrated in specific communities — protocol engineers, smart contract developers, DeFi specialists and Web3 product leaders who move between roles through networks and community channels as much as traditional job boards. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that blockchain professionals expect. Specialist platforms, crypto-native communities and targeted outreach each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by BlockchainJobs.uk, covers where to advertise blockchain roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Blockchain Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Blockchain Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and the Web3, DeFi and tokenisation hiring trends shaping UK blockchain careers over the next three years. Blockchain is creating jobs in places nobody predicted three years ago. What began as infrastructure for cryptocurrency is now embedded in financial services, supply chain management, digital identity, healthcare records, and the emerging architecture of tokenised assets. The roles being hired for today bear little resemblance to the developer-heavy, crypto-native job adverts that defined the sector's early years. For job seekers, this is both the complexity and the opportunity of building a blockchain career in 2026. The sector has matured beyond its speculative phase and into serious institutional adoption — and that shift has fundamentally changed what employers are looking for, where the jobs are, and which skills command a premium. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years aren't necessarily those who got in earliest or who can recite the Bitcoin whitepaper from memory. They're the ones who understand where enterprise blockchain, decentralised finance, digital assets regulation, and Web3 infrastructure are heading — and who are building their skills accordingly. This article breaks down what the UK blockchain jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career ahead of the next wave rather than behind it.
