Blockchain Developer (Contract - Carbon Tokenisation Project)
Remote | 3-Month Contract | Hyperledger Besu | Sustainability Tech

I'm currently working with a forward-thinking organisation in the clean technology sector, seeking an experienced Blockchain Developer for a 3-month contract to build the foundational infrastructure of a carbon offset tokenisation system on Hyperledger Besu.

This role involves designing and delivering a secure, permissioned blockchain network and developing smart contracts for the minting, verification, and retirement of tokenised carbon credits. You'll take the lead from network configuration through to testnet deployment and audit readiness, collaborating with a small, agile team committed to sustainability and decentralised innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing ERC-20/1155-compatible smart contracts with embedded metadata (e.g., project ID, vintage year, verification body).

Setting up a multi-node Besu network using IBFT 2.0 or QBFT consensus.

Building minting and retirement APIs integrated with off-chain MRV (Measurement, Reporting & Verification) data.

Delivering end-to-end functionality alongside comprehensive, audit-ready documentation.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience with Solidity, Hyperledger Besu, and Web3 tooling, as well as a good understanding of carbon markets or environmental data systems.

This contract offers the chance to work on a high-impact sustainability project, with flexible remote working and the potential for extension or a leadership role in future phases

Top 10 UK Universities for Blockchain Degrees & Research (2025 Guide)

From the Bank of England’s digital-pound pilots to London start-ups raising eight-figure seed rounds, blockchain has moved from experimental proof-of-concept to core infrastructure across UK finance, supply-chain and creative industries. Venture funding for British Web3 companies topped £1 billion again in 2024, and recruiters now list Solidity, CBDC research and DeFi risk analysis alongside Python and data science on their must-have skill sheets. Universities have responded in kind. The past three years have seen a surge of dedicated master’s degrees, executive certificates and research labs focused squarely on distributed-ledger technology—often co-designed with exchanges, Big-Four consultancies and central banks. Whether you want to architect smart-contract protocols, audit crypto-asset compliance or explore token-based governance models, the UK now offers a campus (and a curriculum) to match. This guide rounds up the ten universities leading that charge in 2025, explains what makes each programme unique, and shows you how to turn an academic credential into a Web3 career. Let’s dive in.

Veterans in Blockchain: A Military‑to‑Civilian Pathway into Distributed‑Ledger Jobs

Introduction When Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin white paper in 2008, it launched more than a digital‑currency revolution—it birthed an entire ecosystem of distributed‑ledger technology (DLT) now worth an estimated £1.3 trillion globally. The UK is banging the regulatory drum for innovation, with the Treasury’s Digital Securities Sandbox and the Ministry of Defence’s Project MINERVA piloting blockchain for secure logistics. For Britain’s 2.4 million veterans and reservists, that spells opportunity. Your background in security, cryptography, supply‑chain management, and mission‑critical ops aligns perfectly with the trustless, tamper‑evident ethos of blockchain. This guide maps out how to leverage your military skills, tap MoD transition programmes, and launch a future‑proof career in one of the world’s fastest‑growing tech domains.
