The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Blockchain Engineer to join our team and help build the next generation of Ctrl Alt’s tokenization and governance infrastructure. You’ll work at the intersection of finance and distributed ledger technology, designing secure and reliable on-chain components that power a platform trusted by asset managers, fund administrators, and institutional investors.

You’ll collaborate closely with our product team and other engineers to integrate blockchain networks into our systems, develop and test on-chain logic for tokenized assets, and build tools that make interacting with those networks seamless. Bringing both initiative and deep technical expertise, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our blockchain integrations are robust, auditable, and ready to scale as adoption grows. You’ll be the key player in Ctrl Alt’s multi-chain architecture and help us to take our blockchain technology to the next level.

What youll be doing
  • Design and implement secure, auditable smart contract logic for tokenization, asset management, and governance
  • Work with a queue-based architecture to create transactions, send them to the blockchain node, and manage the responses to keep track of the ledger
  • Integrate blockchain and distributed ledger technologies into our backend systems
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy blockchain logic on networks such as Cosmos, Liquid, and other Layer 1s
  • Build tools for interacting with on-chain infrastructure (transaction monitoring, wallet integrations, etc.)
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver robust blockchain-based solutions for financial institutions
  • Stay up to date on developments in blockchain infrastructure, standards, and regulatory frameworks
  • Promote best practices in blockchain security and operational resilience
This role will be a great fit if you:
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1+ years working with blockchain or distributed ledger technologies
  • Familiarising with a queue-based architecture
  • Experience developing and deploying smart contract logic or similar on Layer 1 networks
  • Familiarity with token standards and asset representation on-chain
  • Understanding of cryptographic primitives (e.g. signatures, hashes, multisig) and transaction flows
  • Knowledge of blockchain tools, APIs, and development environments (e.g. Cosmos SDK, Elements for Liquid, etc.)
Nice to haves:
  • Exposure to finance or fintech environments, particularly involving digital assets or tokenization
  • Hands-on experience with Cosmos SDK, Liquid Network, or other modular blockchain frameworks
  • Understanding of consensus mechanisms and interoperability protocols
  • Familiarity with regulated tokenization platforms or compliance-first blockchain use cases
  • Experience working with custodial and non-custodial wallet systems
  • Strong communication skills for writing documentation and technical specs

Join a scaling fintech building the next generation of investment banking. You’ll work at the intersection of capital markets and cutting-edge blockchain technology, helping drive and shape the future of financial infrastructure.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Blockchain Job Applications (UK Guide)

Hiring managers in blockchain tech do not start by reading every line of your CV. They scan for credibility, clarity and relevance, and they make an early judgement about whether you can solve real problems in a cutting-edge, evolving landscape. In blockchain and distributed ledger roles—whether in core protocol teams, smart contract development, Web3 infrastructure, compliance/security, or product-focused positions—the strongest applications make the right signals obvious in the first 10–20 seconds. This in-depth guide explains exactly what hiring managers in UK blockchain jobs look for first, how they assess CVs, cover letters and portfolios, and why strong candidates sometimes get overlooked. Use it as a practical checklist before you apply for roles on www.blockchainjobs.uk

The Skills Gap in Blockchain Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Blockchain technology has moved far beyond cryptocurrency headlines. Across finance, supply chains, cybersecurity, gaming, digital identity, healthcare, and public infrastructure, distributed ledger technology is being explored, tested and deployed at scale. Yet despite growing adoption, blockchain employers across the UK consistently report the same problem: a severe shortage of job-ready talent. Graduates emerge with theoretical knowledge, computer science fundamentals, or an interest in decentralisation—but struggle to meet the practical demands of blockchain roles. Vacancies remain open. Startups compete aggressively for experienced hires. Employers spend months searching for candidates who can contribute from day one. The issue is not intelligence. It is not motivation. It is not even demand. The problem is a widening skills gap between blockchain education and real blockchain jobs. This article explores that gap in depth: what universities teach well, what they routinely miss, why the gap exists, what UK employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build sustainable careers in blockchain.
