Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Controller to join our client onsite in Bristol.

Ideal candidates will have a background in aerospace, defence, or engineering industries. The role typically requires up to 4 days per week onsite, though this may vary based on project needs.

Our client is a key defence industry leader, focused on innovation in the design, manufacturing, and support of defence systems-contributing to national safety and security.

Responsibilities

With the recent growth across our Project Control function, we have opportunities for enthusiastic and motivated Project Planners and Project Controllers to join our team, where you will have an opportunity to grow your skills and develop your career within a collaborative and encouraging environment.You will be working on:

Project Health -Validation of individual Project assessments and identification of issues and risks within the Project assessments for discussion with the project.
Schedule Assessment - steering the validation of Project level schedules as accurate, coherent and in accordance with the Programme planning principles.
Integrated Baseline Management - Leading the generation of the Integrated Baseline schedule in order to successfully deliver the programme in accordance with planning principles.
Costs to Go (and associated EAC) - validation of Project level costs to go as accurate and appropriate, including assessment of outlying forecasts, to support the EAC.
Risk and Opportunity Management - Leading all Schedule Risk Analysis across the Projects where SRA is appropriate.
New Business - Active involvement in Bid Team activity, ensuring the Project Management 'basics' are appropriately considered and implemented

Essential skills

Previous P6 experience is essential
Microsoft Project, Excel with a knowledge of PowerBI being an advantage. Results driven individual with a proactive approach
Understanding and involvement in Project Estimate at Completion/Forecast Cost at Completion reviews.
Risk & Opportunities / What- If analysis
Understanding of resource loaded schedules

Experience

Experience in a project coordination role - PMO or Project Management, ideally in a procurement environment.
Proven planning experience, from detailed schedules to high-level milestone plans

Skilled in creating and maintaining project structures (WBS/CBS/OBS)

Proficient in generating and analysing project performance data (schedule, resources, cost)

Capable of conducting and interpreting SRA, Critical Path Analysis, and EVM

Strong problem-solving drive to identify root causes and implement corrective actions

Experienced with project management tools such as SAP, ARM, Primavera, and Oracle Unifier

Solid understanding of Baseline Management and Change Control

Takes ownership of project data, ensuring accuracy of project control reports

Able to influence, work independently, and integrate within multi-functional teams

Excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills across all levels

Effective at prioritising tasks and managing competing demands

What do I need before I apply

Candidates will need to be eligible for UK MoD security clearance, we are unable to accept candidates not based in the UK.
