We are looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead and manage project controls teams across multiple sectors, including Energy, Defence, and Infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering high-impact projects while shaping and leading project controls strategies for our clients.

As a Project Controls Manager, your role will include:

  • Project Controls Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary project controls team, providing mentorship and guidance to foster professional growth. Set clear objectives, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with overall project goals and priorities.
  • Integrated Baseline Development: Lead the development of an Integrated Performance Measurement Baseline, managing a multidisciplinary team of project controls professionals. Ensure the alignment of all stakeholders in the baseline development process.
  • Establishing Breakdown Structures: Facilitate the development of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), Organisational Breakdown Structure (OBS), and Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM) to map and integrate these structures for efficient project control.
  • Systems Selection & Implementation: Select appropriate project control systems and tools, and oversee their design, implementation, and integration to ensure efficiency across the project.
  • Process & Procedure Development: Develop and implement robust project controls processes and procedures across all core disciplines (Cost, Planning, Risk, and Change), ensuring integration with other functional processes.
  • Project Controls Plan (PCP) Development: Create and implement comprehensive Project Control Plans that align with client requirements and sets clear guidelines for roles, responsibilities, tools, and systems.
  • Project Performance Reporting: Develop and manage project controls KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to monitor project progress and performance. Ensure reporting is tailored to stakeholder needs.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM): Lead the development and implementation of EVM, conducting maturity assessments and implementing EVM arrangements. Conduct Earned Value Analysis and prepare EVM reports.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders to integrate project controls strategies and foster collaboration.
  • Risk & Change Control: Provide strategic oversight to risk management activities, including the development of Risk Management Plans, facilitation of risk workshops and ensuring risks are actively managed. Establish robust change control processes and facilitate the Change Control process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by conducting lessons learned reviews, implementing improvements to project controls processes, and applying project controls maturity models to enhance outputs and efficiencies.
    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Extensive experience in project controls within complex project delivery environments.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary project controls teams across large and diverse projects.
  • Strong understanding of project controls processes, including planning, cost management, risk management, change control, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience in Integrated Baseline Development, ensuring alignment between schedule, cost, and risk.
  • Proficiency in project control systems and tools, with experience in systems design, selection, and implementation.
  • Demonstrable experience in stakeholder management, including engaging with clients, senior stakeholders, and supply chain partners to align on project goals and controls requirements.
  • A thorough understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, including the ability to conduct maturity assessments, implement EVM systems, and manage performance reporting.
  • Risk management experience, including the ability to develop and implement Risk Management Plans, facilitate risk workshops, and conduct contingency planning.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills, with experience in preparing and delivering key performance reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and change management skills, with the ability to adapt to evolving project conditions and manage the change process effectively.
  • A relevant Project Management Qualification (e.g., APM, PMP) or equivalent professional certification in a related discipline (eg Engineering or Construction).

  • Competitive salary: £72,500 to £95,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  • Annual performance bonus of up to 10%.
  • Annual leave: 25 days, plus bank holidays, with your birthday off as an added perk! This increases to 27 days after 2 years of service and 30 days after 5 years of service.
