Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Location: Birmingham
Salary & Benefits: £50,000 - £55,000 + benefits

Applause IT are hiring a Network Engineer for a well-established IT solutions provider specialising in cybersecurity and managed IT services. This organisation delivers high-performance, secure networking solutions to clients across multiple industries, ensuring robust and scalable infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Deploy and manage LAN, WAN, and WLAN networks to support business objectives.

Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, topologies, and processes.

Identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues efficiently, acting as an escalation point when required.

Participate in incident response and troubleshooting efforts to resolve critical issues.

Proactively monitor and enhance network infrastructure to ensure performance and security.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members.

Skills & Experience Required:

5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer.

Strong understanding of TCP/IP and Layer 2 switching protocols (VXLAN, VLAN, EVPN, VPC, MLAG).

In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) with real-world deployment experience.

Hands-on experience with firewalls, including Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, AnyConnect Remote Access, and Fortigate.

Proficiency in network monitoring and debugging tools (Wireshark, SNMP monitoring tools).

Proven ability to write network and security documentation, policies, and guidelines.

Strong understanding of IPSec and VPN protocols.

Comfortable working with diverse operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).

Industry certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are desirable but not essential.

Experience in certificate setup, installation, and management.
