Our client is recruiting for an experienced Overhead Lines Project Manager preferably with extensive experience in managing and delivering 132/275/400kV OHL Projects to join teir Transmission & Distribution entity focusing on overseeing project management and delivery, ensuring safety, financial compliance, and timeliness.

This role is site based primarily in the Scottish central belt region with long term project sites based in Argyll and Bute supporting a client. Y

You will have substantial experience of working within multi-million-pound projects to deliver safely, on-time and within budget. Experience of working on Transmission & Distribution Network Operators' projects is key.

Are you an established Overhead Lines (OHL) project manager seeking a new challenge? Join us at the forefront of delivering critical electrical infrastructure. As an existing OHL Project Manager preferably, you will be joining our ever-growing business. You will ideally be from a construction/ electricity supply industry background, ideally with experience in tendering and delivering large 132/275/400kV OHL projects as you will be initially supporting their client SSE projects in the Scottish central belt region.

Typical responsibilities

Assisting in the preparation of win plans for strategic bids and tenders

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of all stages of assigned projects to meet key program milestones, including support and preparation for the mobilisation of new projects

  • Accountable for the approval of the scope of works, plans, and estimates for each project element

  • Ensuring team consistency in the preparation and presentation of project controls (PMP, QA/QC, CPP)

  • Managing project planning, risk & change management, EVM analysis, internal budget control, and cash flow

  • Prioritising project resources and resolving conflicting requirements to improve and optimise project delivery

  • Ensuring project delivery teams adopt performance management practices

  • Achieving high standards in project programming and producing monthly reports

  • Resolving issues and challenges on individual projects, providing guidance and leadership, and acting as a trouble-shooter when necessary

  • Demonstrating effective SHE leadership and promoting a positive SHE culture, managing safety through early development and life cycle designs

  • Working within company policies to address breaches of SHE policies or management systems

  • Applying lessons learned and innovations within the Wood T&D business

  • Enforcing quality and professionalism standards throughout the project cycle

  • Monitoring compliance with NEC Contract terms, scope of work, and variations log with sub-contractors

  • Managing the Programme of Works, Quality Plan, and Project Risk Register

  • Promoting company values and standards, demonstrating safety, integrity, and commitment

  • Complying with and contributing to the implementation of Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies (OHSAS 18001, ISO9001:2000, ISO 14001)

    Qualifications

    Expected

    Engineering qualification (Degree / HND / HNC) or equivalent industry track record

  • Recognised SHE qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH)

  • Project management qualification

  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness

  • Ability to lead and build project teams, and proactively resolve site issues

  • Willingness to work away from home regularly and for prolonged periods

  • Experience with SSE, SPEN or NGED and other Distribution Network Operators, including leading and managing OHL project teams through all phases is preferable

  • Knowledge of Local Authority permit requirements and NEC Forms of Contract

  • Experience managing design requirements for OHL projects, including commercial budgets, and developing good working relationships with clients and sub-contractors is preferable

  • Understanding of engineering principles, CDM, and client technical standards, policies, procedures, and safety rules

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of OHL installation techniques, street works, permit submission, and council liaison

  • Financial and commercial understanding

  • Full UK driving licence
