Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.  
We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. 
This role is an Apprenticeship Programme within our National Grid contract in South Wales and the South West of England. Our business is centred upon the provision, replacement, repair and maintenance of utility network infrastructure.  With Green Skills being a key part of the future of our business, you will become an integral part of this change. 
The Apprenticeship Programme provides the opportunity for individuals to become fully trained and qualified 'craft' persons on the 132kV to 400kV transmission network.

What will you be doing?

Electrical fitting activities on High Voltage switch gear, transformers and associated equipment
Installation of control and protection equipment
Installation of Earthing Systems
Installation of outdoor equipment such as Bus Bar, Disconnectors and Switchgear
Maintenance of High Voltage equipment
Fault Finding on Low and High Voltage equipment
Receiving High Voltage documentsWhat you’ll bring;

Driving Licence: Full licence and own car required
Education: GCSEs in Mathematics and English (grades A-C or 9-5)
Age: Must be 18+ due to health & safety policy
Interest: Electronics, electricity, or engineering
Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team
Manual Dexterity: Skilled with hand tools
Physical Ability: Comfortable working in confined spaces and all weather conditions

Next Steps: Complete a video interview, if successful you will be invited to an Assessment day
Assessment Centre: 3rd July 2025 in Caldicott, Wales
Background Checks: Some roles require 3rd party background checks and drug/alcohol testing
Start Date: 1st September 2025Career Development;

Starting Pay: £10.50 per hour
Salary Reviews: Every 6 months
Progression: Various pathways available post-completion, discussed during quarterly reviewsProgramme Structure;

Duration: 3 years
Training: Rotations of 2-week blocks at the training provider's facilities in Manchester, followed by fieldwork
Accommodation: Provided during training blocksApprenticeship Development Scheme (ADS);

Blend of Sessions: Online and face-to-face
Focus Areas: Soft skills development and mental health/pastoral care support
Residential Elements: Some sessions will take place in England
